Pecunia Per Annum Pecunia Per Annum

Pecunia Per Annum was concieved in early 2021. Lisa and I saw, (several times) , a commercial on television where a working mom was trying to stretch her kid's meal that night with a little bit of milk. I have no idea of the food. But, in the end , she had nothing to eat for herself. We both were moved by it. We started talking about the many people that are struggling just to feed their children and keep a roof over their head. We both were moved by this commercial.

We started talking about we are probably surrounded by families that go through similiar situations. We should be able to do something to help. We knew we could not help all of them but we could, with the help and generosity of the many wonderful people we know, help one family.

The most simple and effective plan was to help one family catch a break. Our plan was to ask each of our friends if they could spare $10.00 a month to help a family in Ashe County. With a one time administravtive fee of $5.00, their total donation would amount to $125.00 per year. If we recieved 50 donors giving the $125.00 that would give us a total of $6,250.00 and taking $250.00 out of this for administrative costs, we would have  $6,000.00 to divide in to twelve months at $500.00 a month.

The distribution goes like this:

A $100.00 credit to Blue Ridge Electric toward the family's electric bill. This will be debted through the non-profit's checking account.

A $100.00 credit to the  provider of their heating source which will debted through the checking accout.

A $125.00  gift card to Walmart.

A $125.00 gift card to a local grocery store.

A $50.00 gas card.

These donations will be disperessed at the beginning of each month by our liasion and her  two social workers cohorts. We will not know the identity of the recipient family. We will not police their purchases. We are hoping that by providing them a boost for a year that it will help them gain a steadier footing than they have now.

This regimine of distributing the $500.00 a month to the family will last for 12 months. We hope that this will give them a chance to take a deep breath and get a little better handle and give them hope. I think the Hope thing is ultimately what it's about.
